I felt like slapping Trump when he was making speech: Asad Umar

KARACHI: There came a moment when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar felt like slapping the United States President Donald Trump in his face when he was making his live speech and he, rather than recognizing Pakistan’s sacrifices against terrorism, accused it of providing safe havens for terrorism.
While speaking during ARY News program Power Play, he said Donald Trump was publicly threatening Pakistan.
Speaking up on Trump’s speech targeting Pakistan, he said, you may call it an unparliamentary, and since he held no public office he could say that, Asad Umar said trying to clear his position. “When Trump was speaking against Pakistan, I felt like slapping the US president,” said the PTI leader.
He regretted that what we had made of our country which was dreamed by our national poet Allama Iqbal.
“Iqbal rightly said when you bow before foreign powers, neither your soul nor your body remains yours,” he said.
Asad expressed remorse over all the cabinet ministers’ active engagement in saving the ruling family for the last 15 months.
He said it was the first time a US president openly threatened Pakistan, while in the past they did put pressure in in-camera meetings.
“He (Trump) talked of taking action inside Pakistan by crossing the border. He threatened to put sanctions on Pakistan and he expressed his desire to control the region through India,” he said.
The PTI leader said amid these big threats, the whole cabinet was engaged in saving the former prime minister.
