ABSTRACT

The main object of this dissertation is the evaluation of an interactive Retrieval System for bibliographic, information.   The pilot project under study was developed at Queen’s University on a disc installation;   it is an entirely automatic system designed to respond to on-line search requests. The basis of the investigation is to study the storage requirements; the  retrieval efficiency, and the cost of the pilot system, in order to anticipate these factors for a bigger system.
