KNOWLEDGE ENGINEERING APPLICATION OF ISLAMIC LAW OF INHERITANCE – A TECHNICAL REVIEW

INTRODUCTION:

One of the objective of this presentation is to give an overview of the technical aspects used in the development of a knowledge engineering prototype for the Islamic Law of Inheritance Expert System (ILIES) in PROLOG, Ashraf (1, 2) suggested the need to employ Artificial Intelligence technology for social-economic  growth of developing society.

This document is divided into three parts;

1. Brief overview of Islamic Law  of Inheritance (Fiqah-e-Jaffria).
2. Discussion of Inheritance system in PROLOG.
3. Checking incoming knowledge.

Islamic Law Inheritance system has always been a very intricate problem for Muslim Jurists. This system is much more complex and exhaustive than any other system, conventional inheritance Qureshi et al (7, 8). The application is found to be attractive for the following reasons;

1. A Unique forum of Knowledge and Rules to open a new era for Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI).
2. A versatile domain of Knowledge Engineering of the Muslim Personal Law.
